Form letters

Have you ever gotten one as an email or through the mail? What a waste of time. Today I was bombarded by two form letters. This afternoon I anxiously ran down to check my mail, and all I found was two credit card applications. One just threw me off the edge, it was from Citi, wanting me to apply for the Citicards Platinum Select credit card. Well Citi, I already have your Platinum Select card, why would I really want another one? If you had bumped up your existing cardholder database with the lists you purchase from school’s like Marquette, you would have seen that I’ve been a loyal customer since 2004. By loyal I don’t mean that I have revolving debt that carries over month to month, I’m a respectable customer that pays their bill on time and never carries a balance.

Secondly, I emailed a teaching assistant (yeah after being promised no TA’s at Marquette, I’ve had to deal with about 10 during my whole experience here) that I was not able to attend class this afternoon due to a IT Networking event at the Wisconsin club. Well I get a response later this evening stating:

On Sept. 25, 2007, you missed your Lead 104 class. As we meet only seven times, attendance is imperative, and as per the syllabus, one additional absence, regardless of reason, will result in your immediate withdrawal from the class.

Well I contacted you ahead of time, and I appreciate you reminding of the attendance policy, but to me the whole email feels cold. I think going to a IT networking night is going to be a lot more beneficial than attending a 2 hour class that discusses how to dress appropriately on the job. I’ve been working in the business world since I’ve been in 8th grade, I think by now I have mastered the appropriate wardrobe accepted in businesses.
